Contacted B.A.S.E. excavations to assess basement flooding and provide solution. He convinced us that the only solution was to have weeping tile and house foundation wrap redone at a cost of $15,000. Friday 2 Dec 2016 at 7pm we signed a contract and paid $7,500.00 deposit. During the clean-up and remediation process I discovered that the flooding was due to a blocked drain pipe. I snaked the drain and all the water vacated and all the interior foundation walls were dry when I removed the drywall. This was on Saturday the 3rd. I attempted contact with B.A.S.E. excavation but he did not answer all of my attempts on Saturday and Sunday. His voice mail was full and would not accept new messages. After 2 attempts Monday morning he called me back. His 877 toll free number on the contract was a "win a free cruise line". I told him I tried contacting him but his voicemail was full...he said it doesn't matter because he can see who is calling. I explained that the flooding was a result of a plumbing issue and not a foundation issue but he would hear none of it. He had our signatures on a contract so he said their will be a cancellation fee. He also stated that he already hired people.....really when did he have time to do that? and did he actually pay them anything? Why would he avoid my calls all weekend and still claim he hired people? He did not return $1,150 of the deposit. I tried to come to a mutually beneficially arrangement but he assessed the flooding incorrectly, provided the most expensive solution that would not have fixed the flooding and figured he deserved $1,150 for deceiving us into a contract for work that was not necessary. I question his knowledge of wet basement solutions. Any reputable business would reassess the situation after the blocked drain discovery but this did not happen in my case.
